Ayesha Hazarika is in great demand on the comedy circuit, and as a radio and television correspondent. She has appeared regularly on BBC Radio 5, BBC Radio 4, LBC and BBC Asian Network. In September 2008 she presented & authored her own 30 minute documentary, The Funny Thing About Ramadan, for BBC 1.
Ayesha’s many other television appearances include; newspaper reviews for Sky News and News 24; ‘Take The Mike’ (ITV), ‘The Daily Politics Show’ (BBC 1), ‘Big Brother's Big Mouth’ (Channel 4) and ‘The Morning Breakfast Show (BBC 1). She has also appeared on countless talking head shows including ‘30 Greatest Political Comedies’ (MORE4), ‘Greatest Ever Scary Movies’ (Diverse TV), ‘Greatest TV Wind-Ups (Objective TV), ‘Top TV Moments’ (Channel 5) & ‘The 100 Greatest Cartoons’ (Channel 4).
On radio Ayesha is equally at home discussing heavy weight politics, as light weight trivia. Her many appearances include Loose Ends (as a guest interviewer), Excess Baggage & Woman's Hour (all BBC Radio 4) , The Anita Anand Show, The Worricker Programme and The Brian Hayes Show (all BBC Radio 5) and regular guest slots on The Sandi Toksvig Show and The Jenny Eclair Show (both LBC). In August 2005 Ayesha co-presented the Fred MacAulay Show for BBC Radio Scotland and in 2006 she presented & authored ‘How Do You Make It Stand Up?’ for BBC Asian Network.
Ayesha is a prolific writer. She’s had a regular column in Asiana Magazine and has contributed to several television & radio shows, including a new Asian drama for the BBC. She has also been a regular contributor to The Times, Guardian, Independent, Observer, New Statesman, specialist trade press, women's magazines and football club programmes.
Ayesha has performed several times at the Edinburgh Festival. In 2004 she appeared in ‘The Amused Moose Comedy's Hot Starlets’, which showcased stars in the making, and ‘Funny Women at the Fringe’, a unique platform for female comedy. In 2005 she appeared in "Two Birds Go Into A Bar" with fellow comedienne Zoe Lyons. The same year she also performed at ‘The BBC Stand Up Show’ and’ Funny Women at the Fringe’. In 2006 she was back in ‘Funny Women at the Fringe’.
